Spur of the moment sponsorship

0

Spur of the moment sponsorshipI’ve been extremely lucky to be sponsored by a number of great organisations. Without them, I wouldn’t have had the experiences I’ve had, and I probably wouldn’t be writing this article.

Soon you will be able to read about them here. But recently, whilst perusing a lost folder of expedition photos I remembered a conversation with my friend Malcolm.

Walking across the Haardangervidda Plateau in Norway, he was telling me about the great mountaineers. If you are truly passionate and skilled at your trade, then perhaps the big companies will sponsor you with kit, money, or help. Now I’m no great explorer or mountaineer so this seemed like a great idea, but not really relevant to me.

To illustrate his point he grabbed my ice axe and said “here, if you can make it look good, then that’s what they’re after” in his fabulous Welsh accent. So here’s my attempt at bringing an ice axe to life. Needs work…
