This was my first view of the Amazon and it didn’t disappoint. I don’t deny many of the negative headlines of deforestation and biodiversity loss, but I can happily report that a lot of it is still there, alive and kicking, because we were flying over it for several hours. It looks pretty serene and tranquil from the sky, savor that, because it’s a bit more gnarly when you live in it.
