Scottish Highlands

I'm currently studying for a PhD in London. My field sites are mainly high up in the Scottish Highlands studying the rare tree, Dwarf Birch. Forest clearances and centuries of overgrazing mean there's not much mountain woodland left. I'm working with some great conservation partners, together with the Action for Mountain Woodland project, to use genetic research to guide practical conservation. I also get to traipse around the highlands, which is pretty great for a job!
